SMPS is a community of marketing and business development professionals working to secure profitable business relationships for their A/E/C companies. Through networking, business intelligence, and re­search, SMPS members gain a competitive advantage in positioning their firms successfully in the market­place. SMPS offers members professional development, leadership opportunities, and marketing resourc­es to advance their careers. SMPS is the only organization dedicated to creating business opportunities in the A/E/C industry.

History

The Seattle Chapter of SMPS is one of the oldest and largest chapters in the United States. It is made up of approximately 230 members who work in or support the local A/E/C industry. SMPS was created in 1973 by a small group of professional service firm leaders who recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources and work together to create business opportunities. Together they created SMPS to help tackle the day-to-day complexities of marketing in a time when marketing was barely acknowledged as a separate component of professional service firms.

Today, SMPS has over 6,150 members who are active in more than 50 chapters across the United States. Our members are marketing professionals employed by architecture, engineering, planning, interior design, construction, legal, accounting, and specialty consulting firms.
