Join SMPS as we uncover the mystery of Design-Build with DBIA Northwest Chapter current President, Vice President, and Co-Chair of the Education Committee. These esteemed presenters are experienced professionals within the A/E/C community and ready to share with you the "nuts and bolts" of Design-Build. Their focus is to educate our industry on the basics of understanding what the Design-Build delivery process means to each team member.

In addition, Darlene Septelka, will talk about her experiences as a member of the WA State Project Review Committee (PRC) responsible for reviewing and approving the utilization of GC/CM and Design-Build delivery methods on public projects in Washington State.

Some questions that will be covered during this program:

   * How are contracts and structure different?
   * What does the proposal look like?
   * How do you spread risk?

Presenters:

Greg Bogard, President, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Northwest Chapter
Greg Bogard is Managing Partner of Landon Construction Group, LLC, Seattle, WA/Saigon, Vietnam. He has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry and has been responsible for the design and construction of many large structures, renovations, and mission critical projects.

Greg's past experience includes specialization in the design and construction of projects that are contracted through alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build. Since 1998 Greg has devoted the majority of his time to not only managing Design-Build projects but also researching, actively participating, promoting, and training others in the Design-Build delivery model.

Darlene Septelka, Vice President, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Northwest Chapter
Darlene Septelka recently joined the Landon Construction Group as the Senior Operation Manager overseeing domestic and international projects. Prior to joining Landon, Darlene was the King County Senior Construction Manager for the Brightwater Treatment Plant Project, which included managing a $320M CM at Risk contract, a $170M design-bid-build contract, and an $18M CM contract. Her 35 years in the construction industry, includes 12 years with the Boeing Company managing design and construction on a variety of projects.

Darlene is a DBIA Charter Design-Build Professional TM designee and was a founding officer of the DBIA Northwest Region. As a professional speaker for DBIA's Education Foundation, Darlene has taught several national courses on design-build best practices for DBIA over the last 7 years.

Bill Kent, Co-Chair DBIA Education Committee
Bill Kent is a Construction Executive with the M. A. Mortenson Company. During his 21 years with Mortenson, Bill has been involved in several successful Design-Build projects, two of which have won national awards of excellence from the DBIA. Bill achieved the status of designated Design-Build professional (DBIA) in 2001, and is currently the Co-Chair of DBIA Education Committee for the NW chapter. Bill is also a member of the Bellevue Community College Foundation Board of Directors.
