SMPS Scholarships

Three SMPS Seattle scholarship opportunities are now available!

SMPS Seattle Fellows Scholarship
Attending the national SMPS conference has been a valuable experience and contributed to long-term success for the SMPS Seattle Fellows. They are eager to share that experience with a Seattle Chapter member by offering the first "Fellows Scholarship" - a paid registration to the 2011 SMPS National Conference, valued at $1100. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant needs to have attended at least one Fellows Forum.

SMPS Seattle Continuing Education Scholarship
To help with members continuing education pursuits, several scholarships may be awarded in a variety of increments, totaling (up to) $1,100. The scholarship could be used for continuing education coursework, CPSM study materials or testing costs, and a variety of other approved continuing education opportunities.

SMPS Seattle Undergraduate Scholarship
Do you know a high school senior or current undergraduate student planning to major in marketing, communications, architecture, environmental sciences, engineering, construction, or other related discipline? If so, encourage them to apply for the SMPS Seattle Undergraduate Scholarship!

Additional information and requirements are described on each scholarship’s application. If you have any questions, please contact SMPS Seattle.

Outreach Committee Upcoming Outreach events

Do you have a passion to give back to the larger community and make an impact in the lives of others? If so, you will enjoy giving back on the Outreach Committee.

What does the Outreach committee do?
The Outreach committee is in charge of the Annual Scholarship, as well as various other community involvement events throughout the year.

Annual Scholarship
The Annual Scholarship is a way for SMPS Seattle to promote marketing, business development, architecture, engineering, and construction career possibilities to students in the Seattle Metropolitan area. Over the years, SMPS Seattle has used a variety of methods and events to raise awareness and money for its successful Annual Scholarship. The past couple of years have focused on a Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament.

If you have suggestions that will help get the word about SMPS to students, and how to raise money for the scholarship’s future success, email SMPS Seattle, today!

Community Involvement
From helping small local businesses with their marketing efforts, to donating teddy bears to the Children’s Hospital, and helping women “Dress for Success”, SMPS Seattle strives to make an impact on the community at large. If you know of non-profits or schools that need SMPS Seattle’s help, or want to be that helping hand, join the committee and get the word out.

How much time will it take?
The Outreach committee meets monthly depending on the committee members’ schedules. Currently, the committee meets on the third Thursday of the month, rotating on the eastside.

As for assigned tasks, the amount of time spent on any given task will depend on what needs to be done for the next event. The work is light if there are many hands, and we try to spread it around.

How do I get involved?
If you would like to become part of the Outreach committee, or want more information, contact SMPS Seattle.

Kenneth H. Packard

"The scholarship you have awarded me has given me something on which to build my future, starting with a degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University.  Without the Society for Marketing Professional Services and similar organizations, plans like mine would never become realities.  Thank you so much for your investment in me and my future."

Sincerely,
Kenneth Hal Packard
